Fathers’ Day - Who’s your daddy???
… I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. – Hebrews 13:5
The popular phrase, "Who's your daddy??" doesn't refer to birth father, but rather to "Who is taking care of you??!!" And, it isn't so much a question as a reminder.
'Who is your daddy?' Who is taking care of you? Civilla D. Martin wrote the words to a marvelous old hymn, "God Will Take Care of You." It is said that as a result of the financial devastation of 1929 J.C. Penney was hospitalized with severe depression. As he was lying in his hospital bed one morning he heard someone singing that hymn in the hospital chapel:
"Be not dismayed what e’er betide, God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you,
God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you, God will take care of you."
That song so spoke to James Cash Penney that he immediately 'recovered' and began to work his way out of the financial hole his company was in. That was the turning point in the development of the now historical chain of department stores, 'J.C. Penney's.'
God has promised to never leave or forsake you. He is your Father and loves you..."God is Love!"
11. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
12. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
13. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29 N.I.V.)
