"Joshua fought the battle of Jericho"

Josh 5.13-6.25

Joshua asks the 'man' with the sword who appeared in the road in front of him, "...are you for us or for our enemies?" The Lord said, "Neither."

That is NOT what you want to hear from God!!

First things first - "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy."

Are you perplexed about battles just ahead? Does it appear that there are inevitable struggles in your future, maybe on the job or in the family? Do you find yourself rehearsing conversations and conflicts in your mind - conversations as yet unspoken; battles yet to be fought?

First, seek God. Be aware that the ground you are standing on is holy ground, for wherever you are - there He is. Whatever the difficulty facing you, it is too important a struggle to be faced without first worshipping the Lord God Most High.

Rarely will we need to fight a battle if when we begin our anxiety over the impending struggle, we first stop to worship. Unfortunately, most of us seek God the same way Joshua started to do...'are you for me or for my enemies?' God wanted Joshua to recognize the precious sacredness of that moment, just being in the presence of the Lord. David wanted God to just 'slay' his enemies. God wanted David to just 'be still and know that I am God.'

I encourage you today to be still and worship the God of the universe. He will fight your battles. It might be that all He wants from you in this situation is for you to walk around and quietly claim your territory without raising your voice.

You might be required to walk around quietly day after day, but someday you will be given cause to shout, sing, and claim victory. The walls that confront you will fall, the victory will be yours...

First, you must be still and worship.
