Paul, on Restoration Gal 6.1-10
1. Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
I have noticed a tendency in the Body of Christ to treat those in need of "restoration" as a separate category of 'Christian.' The inference is definitely that those folks are a wee bit suspect.
Have you noticed the 10th verse of Galatians 6?
10. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Years ago I heard a teacher say, "When you see a 'therefore,' ask yourself what it is there for." This 'therefore' is taking us back to verses 1-9.
"Therefore...do good to all people..."
carry each other's burdens,
don't think you are something when you aren't, you are just fooling yourself
test your own actions then you can be satisfied with yourself, without comparing yourself to somebody else
each one of us should carry our own load
we who receive instruction in the word must share all good things with our instructor
don't be deceived: God cannot be mocked, we reap what we sow
when we do things to please our own nature, from that nature we will reap destruction; the one who lives to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life
don't become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up
So, we are to do good to everyone, especially to those who are a part of the family of believers! I don't see any class distinction set in the 'family.' I see a huge directive to humility and equality among the family. If any distinction is to be made it is to err on the side of carrying the burdens of the weaker and those deemed less capable.
Okay now, get out there and restore someone to equal standing! Maybe even lift them up a wee bit higher. It's a great and worthwhile effort.
