I am not an alarmist. I rarely ever get involved in protesting as I feel there are generally more effective ways of getting a message across. This isn't a protest either. This is a bit of information I feel strongly is only the tip of the iceberg.
I'm greatly pained by the legal groundwork that has been laid by the Homeland Security legislation. This will make the ultimate persecution of Christians very easy. Ironic how little thought seems to have gone into this by Christian men who were elected to the top rank offices in our nation.
While I have to believe that whoever is in office is part of the ultimate divine plan for mankind, I see what is happening as results of the past presidential election to be the hand of God in judgment not upon the nation so much as upon those called by His name.
I am tremendously saddened daily. God help us. It seems that humiliation is part of the process of judgment.
It is incumbent upon us to make certain we are NOT driven by nationalism but by the call of Christ upon our hearts and lives. We are Christians first and last...I feel blessed to have been born in the USA, but my country isn't defined by lines guarded by Border Security. My country is defined in Hebrews 11 as that for which Abraham looked and longed.
My fellow countrymen aren't defined by flags on the sleeve or pins upon the lapel nor pledges made to a flag. My countrymen are those wherever they may be who call upon His name and are the Redeemed.
I have precious fellow citizens who are called Palestinian, Iraqi, Pakistani, Iranian, Syrian, Turk, Russian and Mexican. There are many thousands of them who gather in their churches daily, around the globe, and call out to God for safety, mercy, peace...they are my brothers and sisters.
With them I have a closer kinship, here and eternal, than I do with most of the inhabitants of my own city, who deride and chide those of us who are called by His name.
We must be careful where our anger is directed in this day of a War on Terror! Our real enemy doesn't wear turban headgear and long robes and live in desert places. We aren't to fear him "who can harm the body but he who can destroy the soul." THAT enemy is alive and well and active among those who say the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
