Daniel in the Lion's den
Dan 6.1-28
A truism for someone wanting to be successful in public life is to 'have credibility and visibility.' I recently heard a banker here in Northwest Arkansas talking to political candidate wannabe's about the necessity of ethics and integrity (credibility) and their profile of service in the community.
It was excellent advice that should be imparted to every Christian everywhere!
Let's briefly look at Daniel in this story commonly known in children's Bible storybooks as "Daniel in the Lion's den."
Daniel 6:3 'Now Daniel so distinguished himself...' is a good place to start in evaluating the steps involved in Daniel's success both personally and politically.
Then in verse 4 '...They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent.' Now, how's that for commentary on ethics and integrity?!
What was God's response to this man who lived humbly in the sight of God? Verse 22 "...My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king."
Daniel didn't sin against God, nor man.
Verse 28 'So Daniel prospered...'
Now, what do you want in life?
