Elijah and the chariot of fire
2 Kings 2.1-18
The question Elisha asked immediately after Elijah disappeared in the whirlwind and chariot of fire was, "Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" Not just everyone is qualified to ask that question.
To qualify as one who can ask where God is in any given situation, the questioner must first build the relationship with God that made Elijah who he was and Elisha who he was. That not only takes time, it takes crisis and victory for the development of faith/trust.
That confidence of relationship doesn't come just because we survive a crisis, it comes because we have persevered to victory through a crisis. Those who learn patience through successfully experiencing crisis, grow in a faith/trust relationship with God.
Perhaps the question on any given day, or in any given crisis, isn't "Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" But, rather, 'where are the Elijah's of the LORD God?'
Is your relationship with God that of a close friend with Whom you walk and talk and rest your case? If so, you can count on being able to discern His presence in your next crisis.
