How should we live?

Forgiveness (forgetfulness: FIDO)
My favorite football coach has a saying, "Forget it - drive on!"
F.I.D.O. - you can't look ahead in the rear-view mirror.
I think Ken Hatfield, truly one of the great college football coaches, has an attitude much in common with that of the Apostle Paul. Paul, in his letter to the church at Philippi, said -
13. No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14. I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us. (Philippians 3 NIV)
Forgiveness isn't possible if you keep your back to the future and stay focused on the past. You won't really be able to understand what happened or why it happened anyway!
A man's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way? Proverbs 20.24 NIV
Here it is from the Living Bible: Since the Lord is directing our steps, why try to understand everything that happens along the way? Proverbs 20.24
This is all about walking by faith. If you are stuck on something in the past you are still trying to see clearly the path of your life...in the rearview mirror. We can't walk by sight (understanding) and at the same time be walking by faith.
If we aren't walking by faith we will miss the moments of incredible awe that comes with glimpses of the hand of God at work.
If you are hung up on events of the past you aren't looking to the future.
Forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead. FIDO! You can't walk backwards with God!
