In pursuit of fruit.

Galatians chapter 5 lists quite a variety of 'fruit.' Some absolutely terrible, some excellent, some seeming to be the stuff of every day life. Is there 'fruit' that is moral neutral? Is there no chance to just relax and be normal?

An old colleague of mine, years ago, reminded me that we are to be humans 'being' and most religious structures require humans 'doing.'

David, shepherd boy and warrior king, was probably 'ADHD' by today's definition of short attention span, extremely active kids. My mental picture of him is definitely a composite of lots of kids I've known over the years...ruddy complexion, maybe a redhead, lots of freckles, lots of energy, lots of inquisitiveness, too many questions, rather full of confidence and impulsive.

I hear God saying to David, "Be still and know that I am God." Psalms 46.10

Actually, I hear that as, "David...DAVID! BE STILL! Sit still, just be still, let this sink in...know that I AM!"

The Hebrew in this verse consists of only three words:  Raphah (raw-faw')  Yada` (yaw-dah')   Elohiym (El-o-heem'). "Sink down, relax; perceive, learn this; the (true) God."

God wants to enter our existence and teach us Love, Joy, Peace, Patience...get the picture?

The list of good 'fruit' is attitudinal! God has a Word for us in our hyperactivity - RELAX!! Okay, maybe He has two words...RELAX QUIETLY!! Well, maybe He signed it too, "RELAX, QUIETLY!! God"

And if we can get real still, we will find the attitude adjustment He has for us.
