I am irritated by Biblical inerrantists who demand absolutes rather than searching for acts of Grace.
Who was this Jesus whom we profess to follow? What were His teachings by which we profess to live?
· He loved being with sinners
· He was accused of being a glutton and heavy drinker
· He broke the Sabbath by healing someone
· He forgave the woman caught in adultery
· He preferred mercy to sacrifices
It’s hard to find absolutes in Jesus’ teachings. It gets even tougher if you take the Sermon on the Mount verse by verse.
If you want to err on the side of absolutes – side with Grace. Grace will absolutely cleanse from sin…even sin that the absolutists can’t seem to forgive.
I received an email message the other day, "Even God waits until we are dead before judging us." Good reminder!
