Is It God?

Hey, are you feeling like you have it all together? I felt that way once but it didn’t last long. I think some of the worst confusion comes as I try to figure out if God is trying to speak to me or if it’s something else or someone else.

Here is a little story Sandy Hatfield sent to me.

Two inmates in an insane asylum were talking.  The first one said, “I am Napoleon.” The second one said, “Who told you that?!” The first one said, “God told me.” From another room a voice said, “I DID NOT!!”

Still confused? I’ve discovered most of my confusion stems from inadequate time really praying. Now don’t get me wrong, I spend lots of time BEGGING God, but that really doesn’t count as prayer. Prayer is a conversation between an individual and God. Generally it means that in typical human fashion I talk a lot and then pause slightly for God to say something real quick, if He has something to say. Now if He would just preface His brief remarks with some thunder or perhaps trumpets I would understand the importance of His remarks and listen a little more closely.

Unfortunately He generally just speaks in something called a “still, small voice” and that is really hard to hear and even more difficult to understand.

Understand? I thought you would, after all, we are family and “birds of a feather…” and all that.

So, in the midst of your triumph or your tribulation I wish you peace that goes beyond understanding.

I encourage you to take a few moments today away from the noise and confusion. Let God in on your situation and then relax. Perhaps as you are relaxed God will speak to you briefly (and quietly).
