Judgmentalism

The consensus of opinion from Jesus, James and Paul: Judgmentalism is arrogance!

Jesus talked about those critical temple-types who were so good at giving the running commentary...

Matthew 11:17.  "`We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.'

 18.  For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, `He has a demon.'

 19.  The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." '

You can't please someone who is judgmental. There is no arrogance quite like judgmentalism.

Jesus' brother, James, talked about it (James 4:10-12) and said the cure is humility.

The Apostle Paul talked about it (Titus 3:1-7) and said the only hope is true humility.

Back to Jesus in Matthew 11 - He recognized that being judgmental is a real burden. It creates not only unpleasantness for those around, but unhappiness for the burdened individual!

His advice? Matthew 11:28-30 - Take it easy…keep it light! Be gentle, be humble, be kind – be at rest.

Still unhappy? Got a bee in your bonnet? There's a burr under your saddle? You just gotta straighten someone out? Get over it before you stand before the Judge. He doesn't care about our pet peeves.
