Moses, the basket case
Exodus 1.8-2.10
When things change for you it doesn't mean that God's plan for your life has expired, like a service warranty.
I've commented before on the shallow philosophy that some folks have when everything is going well - "God has been good to me..." Is this to say that when things aren't necessarily going well that 'God is not good to me?'
God is good even when life is tough. GOD IS GOOD! Life is hard but God is good... "When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future." Ecclesiastes 7:14
When "...a new king, who did not know about Joseph, came to power in Egypt..." Exodus 1:8, it didn't mean that good things would never happen again to God's children.
Our well-being isn't dependent upon someone being in the White House who is user-friendly to Christians. A nation isn't a "Christian" nation because it adheres to certain moral codes. (Parenthetically - Francis Shaeffer III has addressed this subject with the reminder that people, quite specifically, persons are "saved" and thus "Christian" not institutions, media, organizations or countries.)
Into each life come occasions where we need to see the salvation of the Lord and the righteous hand of God at work, not just the favor of those in authority. Moses was the instrument of God's salvation for that generation and his start seemed pretty shaky.
We want assurances of outcomes and place our bets on positions of strength. God said He uses "weakness" and "brokenness."
If you are presently a 'basket case' take heart - God can use you mightily!
