Paul, on being Saved

It has become a divisive dogma with various forms and specific events. Salvation is all about a relationship with God...not an event scripted by churches and liturgies.

In order to experience 'salvation' in today's 'Christianity,' you must negotiate and choose among those who stress the practices of dipping, some who dunk, or you can be sprinkled, poured over or dry-cleaned. Some will find themselves shaking hands, or making a public confession, perhaps having to join a church, or maybe kneel at a bench. There might be certain words that have to be repeated or a class that has to be attended. Ultimately a statistic will be recorded and probably a card will be signed.

So much discussion, and even rancor, has surrounded the topic of salvation that it is as confusing to an earnest Christian as it is to a non-Christian.

The subject which is supposed to bring 'wholeness' by its very definition (Latin - salus: to be whole), has caused more division than anything else in all of Christianity.

If this thing is about a relationship with God, and if it is a spiritual thing and is not dependent upon mankind's ability, my question of you is: "How about your heart? Is it right with God? That's the thing that counts today." Or, in the words of yet another old gospel song, "Is thy heart right with God?"

I'm not asking if you've ever had an event called 'salvation,' I'm just asking about your sense of wholeness and well-being today.

I'm not judging, just asking. This might be a good day to just check in with Him to (again paraphrasing a song) "see what condition (your) condition is in..."

In your conversation with God - find Grace, Peace and Wholeness. Just call upon His Name. It is a Name above all other names. There is no other name whereby we can be saved. His name is Jesus! He can touch you and make you whole.

(If you found yourself singing tunes with each sentence above, you and I probably have a huge amount of spiritual/worship experiences in common.)
