Praying with David

David - in my opinion he is the easiest character in the Old Testament to evaluate in his prayer life. David prayed in the same bombastic way in which he lived.

David prayed with honesty, transparency, and integrity of his soul, even if it wasn’t spiritual, well-thought-out and righteous. He said what was on his mind.

Why was David called “a man after God’s own heart…” even though he admitted openly that his sins were great and many? I believe that it was because he humbly admitted, openly, that his sins were great and many.

How did He know that God would forgive him? - Because in his open prayer relationship with God he had come to know His Grace and Mercy. If God had been otherwise, David knew he would have been dead and forgotten long ago.

If ever there is a time when it is imperative for you to be yourself, without pretense, it is in your conversations with God. If you try to snow God you don't stand the chance of a snowball in hell...you better get real with God, real quick!!
