…which way you went.
Acts 8.26-39
If I had been the eunuch I probably would have been yelling, "I don't know which way you went..." wanting to hang on to a tremendous experience and blessing for as long as I could.
This blessing from Philip started with very sketchy and incomplete instructions. Perhaps most blessings do.
Philip was directed to the 'road'
Subsequently he was instructed to stay near the chariot
He then had opportunity to visit
This allowed the eunuch to request further action
Sometimes being a blessing requires real intentionality on our part. I suspect that being a 'blessing' requires one to frequently shift plans, perhaps even going out of one's way.
I've also discovered that 'blessings' cannot be forced upon people, their openness to a 'blessing' is requisite.
It might also be said that non-relational people have rarely, if ever, blessed me personally. One seemingly has to 'care' if one is to become known as a 'blessing.'
When was the last time you were 'blessed' with someone being cynical, or sarcastic? When was the last time you were 'blessed' by someone who obviously didn't 'care?'
When was the last time someone gave you the 'time of day?' How wonderful the feeling of being 'blessed' by someone.
Perhaps the same Spirit of God that moved Philip strategically so that he could be a blessing is wanting you to be strategically available for the same purpose.
Perhaps there is a 'eunuch' in your path in need of a blessing. More likely than not, among today's Christian community, someone with the affect of a eunuch would be ostracized rather than blessed.
