Why He was made flesh
(Heb 2.8-18)
I absolutely love Christmas time and since Advent begins next week, let's take a Biblical look at Jesus - in the flesh.
I believe that the second chapter of Hebrews is one of the most powerful explanations of salvation in the Bible.
The 'why' of Jesus' suffering is answered in this chapter. The 'why' of Jesus humanity is answered in this chapter. The 'position' of Jesus in relation to angels, God, and everything else - is described in this chapter.
There is a 'reason for the season' of Christmas. There is a reason why we celebrate the birth of a Savior - a baby wrapped in cloths, lying in a rack of hay among farm animals.
17. For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.
Your sins are forgiven. The baby was God's gift to you. It is a time of remembering and celebrating the gift that truly does keep on giving. It is indeed "Joy to the World," "O Holy Night," and "Jingle Bells" all wrapped into one...He was fully human - yet fully Divine.
Have a Merry, Merry Christmas for the next four weeks of Advent as we celebrate the reason for the season. Live abundantly with Joy for the world around us!
Don't be stingy and a 'Scrooge'...that's not Godly. He's a generous God "who gives liberally."
