Woodrow Wilkins
HABBERTON - Woodrow Wilkins, 85, of Habberton died Jan. 6, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Nov. 19, 1912, on Pinnacle Mountain in Madison County to Marion and Lou B. Wilkins. He was a retired carpenter, a farmer, a cattle grower, an outdoorsman and a skilled rifleman. He worked for Henson's Dairy for many years and was a resident of the Habberton community for more than 50 years. He was a former Habberton School Board member, a member of Christ's Church and Ridgeview Baptist Church and participated in activities at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and Oakland Church. He served on the Oakland Cemetery board. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Phillips Wilkins; two sisters; three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Wilkins; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou Haley and Ish of Plano, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Maurice Wilkins and Cookie of Chickasha, Oklahoma; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Carin Mahan and Marshall of Farmington; two sisters, Maude Thompson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Susie Ledford of Myrtle Point, Ore.; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 pm Friday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. Jim Huffman and the Rev. Preston Baumgardner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm today at Moore's.
Pallbearers will be Jim Dillard, Howard Fields, Pete Gayer, James Lacy, Warren Langham and James Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clint Ferguson, John Dillard, Olen Lacy, Glen Oxford, Keith Oxford and Clive Wilson.
