You Have That Special Something
This morning I ran into one of you, a dear friend, in the hallway of a local hospital. I've reflected upon that "chance" meeting today. What a delight. Even though I wasn't locating the family for whom I was searching, and even though my day was fast becoming an exercise in diminishing returns, and even though I was becoming increasingly aware of the growing probability I wouldn't be able to get everything done today that was on my list...I found my attention suddenly, unexpectedly, centered upon this individual. The day immediately brightened. Value was added to my pursuit of duty. Meaningful conversation replaced time-constrained obligation. I felt blessed to have been in that situation at that exact moment in time.
What's all this about? I was made aware again today that the gift of "blessing" resides in individuals, not things or places or positions. We are each something special! That is the essence, sum and substance of a blessing. It isn't what you do, it's just that you ARE. The fact that you exist and are in relationship with me is a tremendous blessing!
I want to thank you for your willingness to be my friend. That gift of friendship is the most precious of commodities. So, whenever I might see you, in whatever the setting, your recognition of me as your friend blesses me and changes my day!
I hope you have a great day!
